Join our speedy swim squad for a weekly front crawl specific core strength class

Join our speedy swim squad for a weekly front crawl specific core strength class on zoom on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm for triathletes, masters swimmers and open water swimmers!

We are working through a base training phase, focusing on short intervals with swim bands, and technique, lots of core strength exercises with plenty of variation, and boxercise for cardio currently. We would normally swim at Aldershot Garrison 50m indoor pool on Tuesday evenings and in the summer at Southsea in the sea on Saturday mornings.

Each week is different, you can work at your own level, we're friendly and sociable and are planning on a number of open water events together in the summer on the south coast.

I can keep you on track to help you achieve your training and racing goals for triathlon / swim run / open water swimming / running and cycling events. I can help you achieve your training and racing goals, using the charts in the dashboard in Training Peaks, including the performance management chart to track chronic training load, acute training load and training stress balance, calculated from your threshold power / hr / pace and training stress score and intensity factor of your training sessions.

As a level 2 accredited coach with Training Peaks and a Level 3 British Triathlon Coach, I can help you develop a more structured training approach to get the most from your sessions and help you achieve your training and racing goals, and annual training planning, which would include scheduling, planning, analysis and monitoring of your training sessions.

Depending on which distance triathlon and experience level, we’d be working on either a 3 or 4 weekly rolling cycle of easy, medium , hard and then recovery weeks, based on small changes in volume / intensity, and progressing you at the right level, and intensity based on heart rate and pace / speed of no more than a 10% increase per week on volume (weekly hours). This would ensure your training at the right heart rate at the right time, and not overtraining and increasing the risk of injury.

In terms of planning races and training events, I would focus on building your annual training plan and categorising events into A, B or C and subsequent monthly goals to keep you on track and ensure you complete and achieve your A race event to the best of your ability. This can be training events, or goals within a coaching plan on Training peaks. Its effectively placing a marker in the sand, that you can see, but is currently too far away to reach, and then working out the best plan to get you there from point A to B. This will all be tracked in Training peaks, focusing on training in the right zones at the right time, for the time of year, with technique, skills of the sport in each discipline, regular fitness testing to benchmark your performance improvements.
