1:1 & 2:1 FRONT CRAWL VIDEO ANALYSIS GUILDFORD LIDO
For Adults
See What's Really Happening With Your Stroke
Personalised front crawl coaching and underwater video analysis at Guildford Lido.
Your own 50m lane • 60-minute session • Individual feedback • Video analysis
Whether you're learning front crawl, training for a triathlon, preparing for an open-water swim or simply want to become a more efficient swimmer, we'll identify what's holding your stroke back and show you exactly what to change.
Does your front crawl feel harder than it should?
You may be swimming more slowly than you need to because of small technical issues you're simply unable to feel in the water.
Your hand entry. Catch. Body position. Rotation. Breathing. Kick.
We'll film your stroke above and underwater, identify what's costing you efficiency and show you exactly what to change.
You may be swimming regularly but still feel that you're working too hard for the speed you're getting.
You might be:
-
Losing speed through your catch
-
Crossing the centre line with your hands
-
Struggling with body position or rotation
-
Finding breathing awkward or disruptive
-
Feeling your legs sink
-
Taking too many strokes
-
Running out of energy over longer distances
-
Unsure what your stroke is actually doing
The problem is that many technical faults are difficult to feel while you're swimming.
That's where video analysis helps.
SEE IT. UNDERSTAND IT. CHANGE IT.
During your session, we'll look at your stroke from above and underwater, identify the biggest opportunities for improvement and then work on specific corrections.
You don't need to guess what's going wrong.
We'll show you.
How Your Swim Analysis Session Works
1. SWIM
We start by watching your natural front crawl and understanding your current technique, experience and goals.
2. FILM
Your stroke is captured above and underwater so we can see what is really happening.
3. ANALYSE
We identify the key technical issues that are affecting your efficiency, speed or confidence.
4. CORRECT
You'll be given clear explanations, demonstrations and drills to help you make the changes.
5. RE-FILM
Where appropriate, we'll film again so you can see the difference between your original stroke and the corrected movement.
6. TAKE IT AWAY
After the session, you'll receive personalised swim drills to practise between sessions.
The aim isn't to give you 20 things to think about.
It's to identify the few changes that can make the biggest difference.

What Can We Improve?
Every swimmer is different, so your session is tailored to your individual stroke.
Depending on what we find, we may work on:
BODY POSITION
Improve your alignment and reduce unnecessary drag.
ROTATION
Develop more effective long-axis rotation and connection between your hips, shoulders and arms.
HAND ENTRY
Improve where and how your hand enters the water.
THE CATCH
Develop a more effective catch and learn how to hold onto the water.
PULL & PROPULSION
Learn how to apply force more effectively rather than simply increasing effort.
BREATHING
Improve your breathing timing without disrupting your stroke.
KICK
Develop a more efficient kick without wasting energy.
STROKE RATE
Find a stroke rhythm that works for your ability and swimming goals.
DISTANCE PER STROKE
Improve efficiency and learn how to travel further with each stroke.
STREAMLINING
Reduce drag and become more efficient through the water.
And much more.
We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach.
Your stroke determines what we work on.
Who Are The Sessions For?
These sessions are suitable for all levels of adult swimmers, including:
🏊 BEGINNERS & IMPROVERS
You can already swim 25m but want to develop a more confident and efficient front crawl.
🏊 TRIATHLETES
From sprint distance through to 70.3, Ironman and beyond.
🏊 MASTERS SWIMMERS
Fine-tune your technique, improve efficiency and work on performance.
🌊 OPEN WATER SWIMMERS
Improve your pool technique and prepare for longer open-water distances.
🎯 GOAL-DRIVEN SWIMMERS
Whether you're chasing a faster 400m, 1,500m or longer-distance swim, we'll focus on the technical changes that can help you get there.
Why Video Analysis?
Most swimmers only ever experience their stroke from inside the water.
You feel what you're doing.
But you don't necessarily see it.
Video gives us another perspective.
We can slow your stroke down, identify exactly what's happening and use that information to make your coaching much more specific.
Instead of:
“Your hand is crossing over.”
You can actually see your hand crossing over.
Instead of:
“Your legs are sinking.”
You can see the effect it's having on your body position.
That makes technical changes easier to understand — and much easier to practise.

Just focused coaching designed around your swimming and your goals.
“This year I'd like to swim the length of Coniston. I'm not a natural swimmer, but I joined Nick for his Pool to Open Water Masterclass and my 25m length times dropped from 32 seconds to 19 seconds in just 4 lessons... targeting those areas which generate maximum gain in the shortest time, but also in a relaxed way.”
— Stuart Payne
“Nick has provided excellent coaching which has built my confidence in the pool.”
— Nick Rich
“I came to see Nick 3 weeks before a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon, with little confidence in my swimming. Within a couple of times seeing Nick and some small tweaks I was swimming much more efficiently and completed my first 70.3 in 36 minutes.”
